Assessed using the CDM Tool for Demonstration of Additionality. Project net present value was negative in the absence of carbon credit funding, indicating the management should not go ahead. The project’s economic benefits are insufficient to cover the capital and economic costs of the new technology. The project is not considered common practice in the region, as most other factories in the region use unsustainably harvested wood. No barriers prohibit continuation of the baseline activity.

The project has been validated by the Social Carbon Standard, in recognition of its support of community initiatives, such as the local football team and an association which helps young handicapped persons, and the social inclusion of women in the workforce.
