Who We Are

Carbon Clear was founded in the United Kingdom in 2005 by international development expert Jamal Gore and social entrepreneur Mark Chadwick. From the onset, our organization has been driven by a "measure, reduce, offset" mission, working with clients to assess and reduce their carbon impact with both strategic reduction advice and high quality carbon offset credits. A mission that continues today. Through the years, our organization’s operational footprint has expanded globally with offices in the United States, France, Spain and Turkey.

Carbon Clear is a founding member of the International Carbon Reduction and Offsetting Alliance (ICROA), formed to promote best practices in the carbon management industry. Since 2008, the ENDS Report on Carbon Offsetting has recognized Carbon Clear as a "Quality Offset Provider", one of only 14 companies short-listed out of 170 surveyed. In 2007, Carbon Clear was the first carbon management company to earn ISO 14001 environmental management system certification. These credentials, along with our environmental expertise and passion for fighting climate change, have positioned Carbon Clear as a world leader in the carbon market industry.

What We Do

Carbon Clear is one of only a few fully integrated, comprehensive carbon management firms. We conduct and verify carbon footprints according to international standards, provide strategically integrated reduction planning (including stakeholder engagement programs), and meet the offset needs of our clients by sourcing and developing our own top quality carbon reduction projects that are verified by highly reputable third parties.

From a strategic consulting perspective, we make it a point to rely on granular data, unique to your specific organization, rather than industry averages. Accurate data translates into effective carbon reduction plans. And, we place great emphasis on transparency in calculation, analysis and communication, using only the strictest accounting methodologies, including ISO 14064-1 and GHG Protocol.

From an offset project development and procurement perspective, our affiliation as a founding member of ICROA and our ethics toward sustainable international development mean we make it our mandate to develop and source only the highest quality carbon credits to meet your offsetting requirements. All emissions reduction projects in our portfolio must pass strict environmental, technical, and social benefit quality requirements before we invest or ask our clients to invest. Meaning our projects not only reduce carbon, they also make tangible livelihood improvements, helping many communities most affected by and vulnerable to climate change.
