Carbon Clear's GreenWay Miles program provides the Logistics Industry with Carbon Audits and Carbon Neutral Shipping Alternatives

Carbon Clear has partnered with GreenWay Miles to offer an exclusive program aimed at helping logistics companies measure their carbon footprint and purchase quality carbon offset credits to operate on a carbon neutral basis. This partnership fills a growing need in the logistics industry to account for the greenhouse gas impact of the shipment of goods in a cost effective way.

Benefits of the program include the ability to provide clients carbon neutral shipping alternatives, new revenue opportunities, competitive differentiation, and the potential for cost savings through identified carbon reduction opportunities.

How does the GreenWay Miles program work?

GreenWay Miles offers logistics companies comprehensive Carbon Footprint Audits, Certifications and Carbon Neutral Shipping options.

Carbon Footprint Audits - Carbon audits are offered for non-carrier and carrier clients:

• Facility Audit: for non-carrier and carrier clients annual carbon emissions are calculated for facility operations including energy usage, refrigerant losses, and company non-revenue service vehicles. Facility audits are conducted in accordance with the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol Reporting Standard.
• Fleet Audit: for carrier clients annual carbon emissions are calculated for fleet operations and are combined with the emissions determined for the facility audit to arrive at a total carbon emissions amount. Fleet audits are calculated using the carrier’s most recent SmartWay Transport Partner fleet model (if available) and the GHG Protocol Tool for Mobile Combustion.

Certifications – Two different certifications are available depending on your type of operations:

• GreenWay Miles Carrier Certification - Carrier clients have two carbon audits performed - a Fleet Audit and a Facility Audit. We combine those two results to calculate Total Grams of Carbon and, using each carrier's Annual Total Miles, calculate a Total Grams of Carbon/Mile.
• GreenWay Miles Company Certification - Non-carrier clients don't have fleets and therefore receive only a Facility Audit (includes non-revenue assigned vehicles). Examples of non-carrier clients include: 3PLs, Logistics Companies, Warehouses, Truck Stops, Freight Brokers and Maintenance Shops.

Carbon Neutral Shipping – for clients wishing to balance their Facility and Fleet emissions, high quality carbon offsets are offered to establish them as a Carbon Neutral Shipper. Additionally, clients may purchase offset credits on behalf of themselves or their customers to offset a portion of their emissions.
